Hi,

For me, the alternative is a small camera I can put in my pocket. It needs to have zoom.

A small camera with interchangable lens is interesting. An up to date version of Leica could be a real alternative. What I see is is:

- EVF built in
- Live view at actual pixels anywhere in the image
- A decent selection of lenses including zooms

My alternate camera right now is a Hasselblad 555 ELD with a P45+ digital back, I guess I go in the other direction?

Best regards
Erik

V1 here. I'm not sure whether I'm sticking with this or not, but for the time being it's good enough.

The OM-D EM5 is my main camera. I also just picked up an X-E1 for M-mount lens use. Both systems meet my needs & desires c. 2013: small, light, fine & dandy IQ, fun to use.

The only SLRs I use these days are of the film variety. Primarily a Contax Aria and a Pentax MX...both also small & light.

I tried various others but they were too small and 'fiddly' for my hands and fingers

My RX100 goes everywhere with me.
It is light enough and small enough not to be noticeable in my cycling jersey pocket, too.

A 30D - it's smaller than my 5DII.

Seriously, I looked at M43, but I'm not sure that everthing is "all together" yet.  A few more generations will improve them a lot I think.

The only advantage for me at present that M43 has is size.

My small camera has become my most frequently used camera.  It is an Olympus OM-D with a small lens (like the 12mm f/2).  For me the infrequent thing is to carry the full-sized SLR.  I also have an Olympus TG-2 tough series camera for boating. I have thought about getting an E-PL5 for a smaller knock-around camera, but the OM-D is really quite compact with a small prime on it.

Canon S90 goes where my other camera doesn't.

Although to be honest, a K-5 with any number of the small primes I own for it aren't a substantial amount larger.

Fuji X-100 (drag everywhere camera)
Sigma DP2 & 3 Merrills  (Fast becoming addicted to the IQ in spite of quirks & slow handling.  Not really "compact" in the sense of small and versatile.)
