Copyright and Orphan Works
« on: June 13, 2013, 10:44:11 am »

You may remember that there was a request some time ago for us to add our support to the battle against the lowering of our copyright defences.

I have today received a reply, via e-mail, from the relevant UK body. I'd expect the rest of us who bothered will have received replies too.

Initial reading looks to be 'friendly' towards our concerns - perhaps it's just more clever semantics, but I hope not.

Good luck. The "orphan" works thing is really tricky. Fortunately, the Google Book Settlement were Google was trying to steal and profit from copyrighted works imploded in the US. Perhaps that help temper the law in the UK.
