how many or which different photo forums do you follow?
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:06:16 am »

Seriously, I can't be following every photo forum I have come across. I think I need to contain it to about 3 or so.  This LULA forum, Pentax because I own one, Paul Buff because I own some, and maybe one other Dpreview(?).  I also used to follow Fred Miranda's and Four Thirds but this is all getting too much.

I am curious what fellow 'togs follow..

Forums?  NONE - not even this one, really/

I used to be administrator of a couple of local forums but we had the wisdom to shut them down.

The age of the forum has well and truly passed.

I follow LuLa only and that is enough for me.

Lula, and I check the news & reviews on DPreview.  Occasionally I ask for info on their forums but spend most of my forum time here.

I try follow some specific individuals that I can learn from ... so I track where they appear... I do not visit LL because it's LL or because of the content of its main page - but because I can read something posted by Eric Chan (for example, there are some others in addition that make LL forums worth the time) here, in discussions... and that is much better than tutorials.

Walter, what do you mean by that, out of interest?

In answer to the question I find this the best place to be, and GetDPI which I think is a third of a stop down from here.

Well, LuLa (obviously)...

I also check in at the Camera Raw Forum, Photoshop Forum and the Lightroom Forum hosted by Adobe. I visit there as much for seeing what people are talking about (like after and upgrade) and researching top "issues". Currently watching the LR5 Beta forum for feedback (and blowback :~)

Rarely go to DPReview (and usually only to check if people are talking/complaining about me or my books).

Occasional I'll check out the Digital Darkroom Forum. But there's usually not much going on there...

I have several photographers in my Google+ circles, and I follow the RSS feeds of a few photographers' blog posts in Feedly, but this is really the only place I hang out - other than the work I do for our local photographers' meetup group.

With 9382 posts Rob I think it is more again than now? ;) Are you the leading all time poster on here?  ;D

This forum and the    http://www.lightroomforums.net/forum.php are my two daily visits. Any more than that and things become confusing. :)

Seldom look at the numbers; it's a bit like pixel-peeping.

Worse, now that you've brought it up, makes me feel I need to go get a life! But wait: this is the allotted life... innit?

I like to check out http://landscapephotographyblogger.com, put together by David Hyde.  When I was first starting Photo.net was a wealth of information and still is if you can wade through everything else.  But then you're talking to someone who even once in while will read Ken Rockwell.

For Yosemite updates I read:  michaelfrye.com

I'm surprised no one has brought up the online photographer.

Are you waiting for news of the ultimate explosion? You don't need to tune in: you'd hear it. We probably all will.

I've checked out several and made a serious stab at one other (which shall remain nameless to keep one of our occasional members from coming down too hard on me), but that one was so riddled with trash photography I gave it up and came home to LuLa for good. On lula people seem at least to attempt to cull their losers. They (I include myself) don't always succeed, but on that particular web they don't even seem to try.

Yes, I was noticing the irony that Rob C. has 9,000 posts and he says he doesn't follow forums.  I have just over a thousand here (my most active forum anywhere) and have been a member for over eight years.

1) LuLa
2) DPReview (I mostly use this forum to filter and get to interesting news and deals. I don't participate much there)
..after those two I am all over the map depending on what I am interested in at the moment
3) Micro Four Thirds Forum
4) Max Lions Tawbaware Forums were THE epicenter for pano and stitching discussions. Less active now.
5) Fred Miranda forums for buy and sell used gear and for browsing photos
6) Adobe Support forums are occasionally helpful.
7) Anandtech and Toms Hardware forums are good for PC building information

well,
art is where you find it and if rob c or rsl, or  michael or schewe or any of the other keepers of the keys so to speak were to leave or discourage me I'd go too.
But they don't and they are,(artists I mean)
so this one is good.
I did for a while follow some pretty funny guys and dolls on a few different forums for my own reasons,
but making short work of pretenders seems a function of negative skepticism,,,
daisies and sunshine and candy!!
down with negative skepticism!
up with artists!
