I am considering the purchase of an X-Rite “Replacement i1 Scanner Testchart”, but want to find out its dimensions first:
http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=1244

The BHPhotoVideo.com website has this item for sale, with a picture. However, there don't seem to be dimensional specs for it:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/465187-REG/X_Rite_421625_Scanner_Testchart_for_i1.html

I believe this "Scanner Testchart" was included with certain X-Rite/GMB packages that had the capability of making scanner profiles. I would attempt to use the Testchart to confirm that my older N.I.B. i1iSis is in calibration. It has 16x18=288 patches, but doesn't seem to be similar to the TC2.83 chart.

I was trying to determine the size of the TestChart. My speculation is that it is about 4"x5" or 5” x 7”, but that may be wishful thinking.

I realize that this item is intended for other purposes, but I believe a “template” can be put together so that the i1iSis can safely measure it without jamming, especially if it is smaller than letter size.  I also think it would be useful for other purposes.

Also, are the "expected/reference" Lab and/or HSB and/or Adobe-98 RGB values available for the "Scanner TestChart"? I didn't find this TestChart within the 1500+ scanner reference files included with the PMP-5 and i1Profiler 1.4.2 (demo) bundles. However, I may not have looked hard enough, and I really didn't know what I was looking for.

I've previously asked X-Rite tech-support about this, but thought I'd also check on this forum.

From memory it was about US Letter size (I have one at home that I can measure up but not until tomorrow). However the issue is that the charts are normally scanned in with an i1Pro to build a reference file which then is used to profile a scanner, so unless you have an i1Pro to measure the output it could be, well, anywhere in between - they don't have a definitive reference like a ColorChecker SG or DC. You'd need a measured chart like an IT8 chart, ColorChecker or i1 Scanner test chart that someone else has measured if you don't have an i1Pro and provided the reference data for - like Silverfast IT8 Calibration.

OK measured it up, the i1 Scanner test chart (part 42.16.25) is 26.7 x 19.5 cm with patch area of 21.6 x 15.3 cm so each patch is about 12 x 9 mm. (So slightly smaller than US Letter). As mentioned you'd need to have someone measure it (ideally with a calibrated i1iSis or i1Pro[2]) to build the reference file for you.

Thanks for the feedback.

I was able to acquire a reference file for the "i1 Scanner Testchart" that has the expected values for each of the 288 patches.

Re: Appreciate finding out dimensions of X-Rite "i1 Scanner Testchart"
« Reply #4 on: April 24, 2013, 04:32:51 am »

I was able to acquire a reference file for the "i1 Scanner Testchart" that has the expected values for each of the 288 patches.

OK - hopefully that's close enough to what you're after (verifying the i1Isis) to confirm it's still within spec.
