After some soul searching, I decided that my 3880 wasn't gonna cut it as far as size goes.
I have a few prints that I would like to have larger than 17 x ***. So today I picked up a new 7900.
This comes after reading most of the Topic: Epson 7900 from the inside - out.
It didn't frighten me away but led me to believe that even if there are issues, I'll be able to resolve them.
I have to say this machine is enormous. I asked a friend to come over and help me move a printer. After today, I don't think he will be returning any of my phone calls.
I did promise him "at cost" prints if the need arose. I hope that soothed things over.
We got it mounted to the stand, and now, I just have to find somewhere to put it.
Sounds silly, I know. I just didn't grasp the sheer bulk of this thing. I guess it also sounds silly to
buy such a large printer but I'm a bit of a control freak and like to manage my own prints. Not being able to print above 17" bothered me.. a lot.
I have ordered a roll of Ilford Gold Fibre Silk (favorite paper so far) and plan on getting a roll of canvas.
I am a newbie on this forum but have been reading a lot as of late. (I work the night shift as a QA Tech and have internet access
)
Anyway, looking forward to reading more on this site about all aspects of photography.
Now I just gotta find a home for my lil 3880.
