design Jet Z2100 prints off color.
« on: January 18, 2013, 03:33:45 pm »

Hello Everyone a colleague of mine recommended that I ask your well of knowledge for help.
here's the issue I am using my Designjet Z2100 24" printer  on a mac.  Our photo editing software is adobe PS 5.  This only occurs when printing on the HP Glossy paper the printer prints it extremely dark when I set the printer to manage the colors.  When I click adobe ps5 manages colors the print comes out a lot brighter but appears off color and over saturated.  I have checked my .icc files and drivers to make sure they are all up to date and they are.  I have restarted re loaded and reset the paper type in the printer and so far nothing actually prints whats on the screen.

How do I fix this? any ideas?  Thank you for your time and any help that you can offer have a wonderful day,
-Geoff.

You really want to be using Application manage color instead of Printer manages color.

As to your problem, well the profile could be just so-so. Double check that you are setting everything correctly both in Photoshop's Print dialog and the subsequent driver software. The later MUST be set exactly as used to build the profile. IOW, if just a media setting is off and everything else is correct, you'll get wrong color.
