It's an attractive image. Why such a long exposure, though?

ASA 400 -- and reciprocity .. this is film days.. Maybe a true speed of 320 with the film and was fairly dark in these passages . I placed the highlights in about ZONE 8-9 and the spot meter said it all. About F 16 at 4.2 minutes BUT with reciprocity -- a good 6 minutes. A fast exposure is 4 seconds > for most of my indoor photos.. This University did not allow tourist into walking the halls ...many of my images have been "illegal" entry for the past 30 years. So the long exposures are great for me...I lock up the cable release and hide in the alcoves ... with a big tripod up about 6+feet and a strange looking camera > they think its a school/government experimental- lab device.
I have a different approach to Fine Art --- I look at working in photography as a style of a War Correspondent in the field. Whatever it takes to capture the image on film .... We have been only been cornered three times, in 25 +years, by heavily armed guards in full riot gear. With a full vest loaded with 120 film it resembles shotgun cartridges across my chest and a large tripod across the shoulder like barrels > & with a pistol looking spot meter ... Well ::we have given a few Countries a scare.
