Raw Developper 2.0, Sigma DP2m support...
« on: January 17, 2013, 04:58:49 pm »

Dear raw lovers,

Iridient Developper has just made available for download Iridient Developper 2.0, the new version of Raw Developper.

http://www.iridientdigital.com/

I am currently requesting an upgrade licence so have not tried it yet, but it sounds very promising. Besides it supports the Sigma DP1m and DP2m which sounds fascinating in its own right.

Cheers,
Bernard

Iridient Developper has just made available for download Iridient Developper 2.0, the new version of Raw Developper.

Got it with the $30 discount which is still a tad high for an upgrade but I'm sure it will be worth the price.

Rawdeveloper (and RPP too) runs in virtualized OSX that runs in commercial VmWare (PC/Windows) w/ less effort or free Oracle VirtualBox (PC/Windows) w/ more effort... granted that, like Hackintosh (running OSX natively on PC), does not honor Apple'e EULA.

Now managed to find a few minutes to play with 2.01 on DP2m files.

I'll need to look more into this to get a global picture, but it seems obvious that the way ID handles deep shadows noise reduction appears significantly superior to the Sigma converter.

Cheers,
Bernard

RD also exaggerates the red/green blotchiness that appears in certain files.  I've seen it introduce this problem in many files where the Sigma software controlled this problem.  There are comments about this on other threads.  This program is definitely not ready for prime time.  A major disappointment... as I find Raw Developer to be the best program for processing files with my other cameras.

Raw Developper 2.0 (actually called "Iridient Developer" now ...) now features automated lens corrections (as well as manual distortion correction). Works like charm with the files of the Sony RX100. It also features CA corrections. So I don't need Lightroom anymore, that's cool :-)
