Please tell us you buy decent cards that last more than two days Erik!
It's obvious that what Eric is saying is that he does not use a card more than a day
before copying the files to something else (laptop or computer).
I have always taken the same approach with any camera that has only one card slot
and does not allow for recording to two cards at the same time.
It's also important to keep in mind that cards can fail when connected to the computer to download the files.
I use San Disk and Lexar.
Little safety tip. Always touch a metal part of the camera before inserting a card and never
put a card into a camera without touching the camera. I have seen a camera go bad when an assistant
removed a card from a camera on a stand and before putting another back in he handled some wardrobe.
Must have generated some static electricity. A bit of a freak case for sure, but not fun.
A great product for MF backs would be a special Compact Flash card with a second piggy back card in it.
Like a CF card with a piggy back SD card. This would be a handy way to achieve redundancy. It could
be designed so that the piggy back card could not be formatted when in the CF card, but only if directly seated in
card reader.
That said CF cards are remarkably robust and I think the real problem is more about user error.
