I have been pondering long and hard the motivation behind this.  Obviously they are great pictures, but what is the story behind the pre-production meetings.

Ever since Steve's work began to appear I've been a huge fan of his work, but I have the same question Walter has.

I think it's a moment of desperation. It happened before when they changed art directors and brought in branding; that, for me, was the beginning of the slippery, only compounded by introducing stronger concepts/themes/stories, which, in my head, means that the class photographers they usually hire no longer do what they do best, but are under the 'guidance' of somebody else already committed to an idea. It's like keeping a canary and doing your own singing if you can't. I just don't keep canaries.

Time has passed, and this particular edition has raised no temperatures at all.

So what did they expect? Throw away the plot and not a lot's left to love. Wonder what they'll do next year. Maybe again lie fallow a while?
