Hitonhauta - The Devil's Grave
« on: November 24, 2012, 12:37:53 pm »

My idea of a good day: woke up at 6 am. Drove 40 kms in a pitch dark rainy morning. When I arrived it was still dark. The day remained pretty much like that for the rest of the day. Did I already mention it was also cold? Well, I didn't and it wasn't. +5 C is a hot day for our November.

Folks, this is the Hitonhauta Natural Reserve in Laukaa, Finland. The name translates roughly as The Devil's Grave. It is easy to understand why.

Seen any Trolls?

Nice photos of an interesting looking area.  Looks like rain may be a common thing there.  Is that moss on the ground in the first one?

Thank you Kevin! I'm afraid you're right. Not only has it been a very rainy year but a gorge like this collects all the water and the bottom is very swampy and wet. And yes, those are moss covered rocks there.
