new epson 4900 up n running - paper selection time....
« on: November 12, 2012, 09:48:02 pm »

well i have the epson 4900 up n running -
i have a d800e / zeiss lenses and shoot flowers / landscapes and urban scenes....

i have printed a few images using ilford pearl paper to test - was using this in my r2400...

and had many many areas od my images that colors were out of gamut - i adjusted using layers / saturation to bring into what this paper can print...

what sort of papers should i be looking for for this wide gamut printer to reduce the fiddling i will have to do to get nice prints...

welcoming any and all suggestions

thank you

I can’t image Ilford Smooth Pearl being much worse or better than any similar paper for gamut, unless you are willing to do your own custom profiles.

If you want to see the extent out of gamut areas with various papers, just download and softproof with the canned profiles for your printer from Hahnemühle, Canson, Harman, Ilford, Moab, Innova, Inkpress, etc, etc.
