Rob,
"I do not feel this with his entire work, but powerfully when the sitter is a sculptor or a painter or a thinker...those who still know the primeval feel of dirt on the hands. " P.A.S.

It is a narrow segment which I refer to...and very specifically where the intensity of their oeuvre is that which has transferred....ie: the Manzus, the Einsteins, ...Had he not earned the better part of his living by the formulaic I would like to think there would have been more...most of us know the bond to that which funds our coffers... but when he made that "touch" connection there is no escaping the power that emanated... I hadn't caught the reason those pulled me in until Mike's comment. I like that awareness now of what it was that drew me, and to which specifically...and yes I count the "fishermen's sweaters" as those that earned him his living as opposed to having power and understand your point very well...(I'll remain on the fence about the Churchill, the first... only because the anger of not being in charge at that moment is so visceral...)

I think I understand.

Karsh was a meticulous, formulaic craftsman, but in only a few of his portraits did he succeed in bringing out the essence of the sitter.
Perhaps only those who "still know the primeval feel of dirt on the hands" were able/willing to project their essences onto Karsh's film?

Happy hour.

And, yes, I do enjoy Snapseed for the phone. It makes taking snapshots fun again.

A typo? You surely meant to write schnapps shots? ;)

I'd rather have that on my wall than "Rhine II."

A local hero having his daily snooze, which seems to last 24/24.

Not much of a sex life for a cat - but what would I know - maybe that's really why he's tired, and he doesn't sleep 24/24, just whenever I happen to pass en route to the lottery shop. I think he's still alive - at least, I don't see many flies yet.

If that's what's on your plate, no wonder you keep having change of diet on your mind ;)

That's a shop window, and the plate's for sale! Dunno about the cat, but perhaps it owns the shop. Strange places, the sticks.

Good grief! Do you realise what I just did? I posted a CAT picture!

I wouldn't say that too loudly, Rob - the powers that be might not notice... shhh...  ;)

A recent image - just playing around with the phone and a bit in LR 5.

Those pictures would be pretty cool even with a regular camera, showing yet again that it's ideas that count - not cats!

The flower, especially, takes my fancy.

Thanks, Rob!  Marcia (for some inexplicable reason) does not share my fascination with f/stops and shutter speeds, but she's gained quite a reputation in our photo club for her cell phone imagery... especially after I foisted Freeman Patterson's 'Photography and the Art of Seeing' on her.  Here are a couple of recent flower images, made by her and pushed around a bit in LR.

Amazing stuff! Leica and CaNik should be getting worried.

Seriously, if a cellphone can permit this...
