accidentally deleted my website ...
« on: July 08, 2012, 07:56:35 pm »

for real.  i was installing a new machine that is now my new web-server when i accidentally deleted my whole website (and the backup).

so i made a new one.  quickly.  same old content, pretty much ... content review will come later.

let me know what you think ... this one has both flash and non-flash galleries and can even be enjoyed (hopefully) on a mobile device.

Hi Jeremy

I could not go further than you Home (?) page. Is it just me?

Ah yes. . . you got the biplane on the roof back in there.

Looks good, Jeremy.

Now you understand why I always have at least three backups on three different sources. In 30 years of software engineering I learned that the hard way, just as you did with this fiasco.

Your galleries seem to work fine here. I tried both the "normal" and the mobile versions…

There have been some reports that the page doesn't load the first time you try for some reason ... once you re-load it, the issue seems to go away ... not really sure what's up with that.

Yeah - this was pure stupidity on my part.  HAD three copies ... went down to two as part of the migration.  Then deleted BOTH volumes (recycled the disks in new RAID arrays) without moving one copy (at least) to the new servers.  I'm an idiot.  I also lost a whole bunch of important files ... some going back to the 1980's.

But no music, videos or photos were lost ... phew.

Any performance issues?  You've never gotten a good connection to me over the "internets" ... wonder if that has improved.

All was well this time. Maybe losing the web and re-building it wasn't all bad.

OK - got it to work after a few bumps and kicks!

Very nice.
