LR4 Color Noise slider, Jeff comment
« on: June 17, 2012, 03:23:17 pm »

Jeff commented that the Color Noise slider works in its default setting, and is not necessary to move it, unless there is something wrong with your camera, but I found that if I move it up, it pretty much removes the purplish cast present on the shadows in very high ISO RAWs from my Panasonic G3. I wonder if the GH2 he is using have the same behavior, and if it does help or not.

I tend to avoid shooting my GH2 at above ISO 1600 (except when I need some sort of noise demo). Ad indeed there are time where something other than default can be useful for color noise reduction...but it tends to be an edge case more tan standard adjustment...

There was another thread that discussed the "rain" noise in Panasonic cameras when a color is over or under saturated. The color noise slider does wonders for cleaning this up. Again, it is not in normal exposures but special cases.

I really enjoy using old primes on my m4/3 camera. There's something about having to choose your aperture and actually focusing your camera that makes it so much more like... like... PHOTOGRAPHY!
