250gb of SUPERIOR PIXELS...
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:56:16 am »

Okay maybe a bit off topic but maybe the purchase of a fine MF back comes with the re E61 aaspect and enjoyment of a finely pulled esspresso shot too? Anyone who has invested as much passion and funds into precise imagery surely loves a good shot from an italian machino? I'm just about to drop some hard saved coin on a manual machine and would apprecite any good E61 advice or opinions on what machine out performs what... Vibiemme or Rocket anyone bitw?

You really want the best you can get? Kees van der Westen Speedster. Nothing in the world comes even close. If my kitchen was larger I definitely would have treated myself to one (or one of his lever pull machines).

For the time being I have invested in an Isomac Zaffiro (there is a big brother version of this one that has a slightly better built). Given the choice between the VBM or the Rocket I would get the Rocket with the rotational pump.

Naturally all of this is best when you also get fresh roasted beans or even better roast them yourself like I do :)

Lets not forget the grinder too :)

Rent before dropping the money and see what gives you the best bang-for-the-buck that fits you!

Reviews are simply opinions, though some can steer you in the right direction or separate the wheat from the chaff.

But for the best, try it and see what works best for you and your approach then decide!

Burr Grinder, Roast the beans yourself and buy green Venezuelan beans (Maracaibo) from Angel Falls Coffee Company!

only technical camera / ms back guys can truly appreciate the nuances of a properly pulled espresso on an E61.. I prefer vintage Bezzera.
