Clarification, mostly for my edification. Is this a macro, or just a good close-up shot? To me, macro suggests an extremely limited depth of field in a relatively small area. Your shot doesn't convey that feeling of limited area.

You are right in that technically, macro means something shot at 1:1 life-size magnification or greater. The Leica S2 macro lens is only capable of 1:2 - yet the call it a macro. Who am I to argue with the folks in Wetzlar?
I think over the years the meaning of macro has become a little more flexible. If you would rather be semantically correct, use the term close-up. The question is, does it really matter?
