Banding issue on z3200ps 44"

Hi,
I`m having a banding problem on my z3200ps 44". I did the printhead cleaning, then print the test page and there is no problem with the printheads (all the colors and horizontal lines on the test page looks ok) . Everything seems to be fine. I`ve set the the printt quality to Custom, Maximum detail, More passes, etc. What else should I look for? The paper I`m using it`s Canson Rag Photographique 310 grs. Could be the icc profile in this case? Any help will be very welcome.

Have you tried calibrating your paper advance, under the Image Maintenance menu?

Most likely causes (some already mentioned)

1) Head alignment
2) Paper advance calibrstion
3) Dirt on the paper advance sensor

I did a head alignment a few days ago. Should I do this procedure on the paper I´m having the issue, or alignment apply to all substrates?

Have you tried calibrating your paper advance, under the Image Maintenance menu?

Issue solved! "artobest" did it! After calibrating the paper advance, the banding is gone. For the "record" of the z3200ps printing issues, I think I should calibrate the paper advance in all the paper higher than 260grs., am I right?

Actualy I don´t know and hoppe someone can tell us. It was what happened to a friend of mine and the technician fixed his printer by cleaning this sensor. I guess the service manual may give some directions, but I haven´t checked.

Page 8-159 of the Service Manual. It is called the Drive Roller Encoder Disk. Attached to the end of Media Advance Roller Spindle. What I usually call the paper transport axle, bad English I guess. You have to remove the left side cover.

Checking this sensor must be done as a routine, or only when we`re having banding issues? Should I call a HP technician or I can do it myself?

If the banding is gone after calibrating like you wrote then there is no reason to think that that encoder has problems.

Ok, thanks. And what do you think about calibrating the paper advance for all non-HP papers that are thick, like the Canson Infinity or Hahnemuhle? Besides solving the banding issue, could I get better print IQ if I do so as a routine?

There could be a recommended paper for tasks like that, not checked that. I always use the HP Matte Litho-Realistic 270 gsm for that kind of tasks: head alignment, paper advance. Close enough to the Photorag 310 gsm.

Sorry but I don´t undestand... Shouldn´t the paper advance calibration be made on the paper I´m working on? Because all the HP papers comes already with the paper advance calibraton as a default (so HP did the job for us with each of their papers). I´ve always asociated paper advance calibration with the weight, texture and characteristics of each kind of paper. I could be wrong...

I´m still having banding issue on my z3200ps 44", but this time the behavior it´s different. I´m printing a large copy of 100x180cm on Canson Glossy RC paper (270grs.). The paper advance it´s done, all the setting in the printer driver are at best quality, and so on. The printing starts perfect, but after a while, in the middle of the print, the copy starts showing banding. What could be the reason? Any help will be very welcome. This printer behavios it´s driving me crazy.

The paper advance calibration should be done just once on the most resolving (gloss) paper such as HP Gloss Photo Paper.
