Such claims on un-corrected errors are familiar and annoying as the claims are not backed up. When the experiment is done as you did, the claims are shown to be false.

Similarly with this recent "bit-perfect, but sound different" claim that has been made. Any time I've tried it, or tried it with their files, I get audibly the same results from the files. Such a null result is not good enough for them as then they start on the excuses - not good enough system / ears / listener bias against the result etc. But at no point have they ever ever proven their claim, or even put forwards a plausible explanation of what they're hearing.

Now, I'm pretty sure they're hearing what they're hearing, but the "why" of why they're hearing it is in their head, not in the bits or the hifi.
