This is Lance, the author of the plugin in question. Thanks for sharing the link, Mike. I'm glad to see that someone else thinks this QRcode label might be a useful feature for Lightroom. If you'd like to see a preview of the labels attached is a sample PDF for Avery 5162 labels. The plugin will be released this Saturday, November 5, and there will be a blog post at the making the announcement.
In my opinion [for what that's worth
], this looks more professional than a handwritten file name on the back of the image. That said, the photographers who choose to go through our printing service will have the file name back printed by the photo lab, which as JJJ mentions, does the job if the photographer uses a file name other than IMG_50234.jpg, or similar. This label makes it so that the photographer doesn't have to worry about file names if they choose not to since it uses the Universally Unique ID [UUID] of the image.
I'm open to adding more features and/or creating other plugins that photographers might find useful. Part of the mission of National Photographer Group is to create new technological tools that assist photographers. We've currently got some pretty neat projects in the works, but we're always looking for new ideas for both hardware and software projects. If you having something in mind then feel free to use the suggestion box to submit your idea. We will give credit where it is due and if we make any money on it then you will be compensated.
