Nikon 35mm 1.4G
« on: August 28, 2011, 01:01:12 am »

Hi, i am looking to purchase a nikon 35mm 1.4G to use with my D3x.
I was after any user info regarding this lens. Initially i was going to grab the 24mm 1.4G but already own the 24mm PCE so not wanting to double up on focal lengths.
It is specifically required for aerial landscape photography, utilising the fast apertures in low light morning and evening shooting. Being aerial work the wider focal shoot be wide enough and the 1.4 should keep the shutter speed up and the iso down!
It also fills a focal length gap between 24mm and 60mm for other tripod work.
Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers
Nick.

Hello Nick,

I have the Nikon 35mm F1.4 G lens and I am very happy with it. I also have the Nikon 16-35mm F4.0 VR lens which I have found to be perfect for shooting from helicopters. It was one of the reasons why I bought it even though I have the Nikon 14-24mm F2.8 lens and Nikon 24mm PC lens.

Cheers

Hi Simon, do you find the 35mm AF accurate in low light at infinity? Cheers Nick

Hi Nick,

I have had no problems with the AF in low light or infinity.

Lloyd Chambers has written a very good review about the Nikon 35mm 1.4G lens.

Unfortunately it is a pay website but worth every cent.

Hi Nick,

No I have not had any problems with my Nikon 35mm F1.4G lens. I did test the lens extensively before I purchased it to make shore the focus was accurate.

Cheers
