Mid-range zooms for Nikon
« on: August 02, 2011, 07:13:27 am »

Hi

I shoot on a Nikon D7000 and a D80, with a Tokina 12-24 f4 and a Nikon 35 f2. I'm finding that I need something to cover 24 through about 120, or even 200mm and am after recommendations. I've looked at the Nikon 18-200 VR II but haven't been impressed by it at the longer lengths. I'm also considering the 16-85 VR but I'm not overly keen on duplicating focal lengths like this.

Any thoughts or advice? Faster the better, obviously, but don't want to spend a fortune.

Thanks in advance,

Simon

For FF the 24-120 f4 VR comes highly recommended. See Moose Peterson's site.

Looks like a great lens - cheers.  I'll look into it in more detail.

I have the 24-120mm VR 2 and it is really worth the price with the nano coated elements but I use it on the D3 ,full frame ,on A DX I don't know the results.
