yes you are correct, but as a lot of people have found it does not work on every 64bit machine, and that includes my i7 quad core

Does not work on my W7 64 bit with any of my files, 1DsMKIII, 5DII, 5D, t1i, t2i.

Update...works now after installing the AMD64 version.
