Current front page picture is epic!
« on: February 01, 2011, 10:29:20 pm »

What a lucky moment was to be there with the right eye. This bird in flight beats all BIF pics I've seen anywhere.  :D
The perfect moment for the best capture on earth!
Mouth watering if I just take a moment to imagine the print.
My sincere congratulations.

Agree. It goes to show that the Aztec gods are favorable to those who carry an 80 MPixel digital Phase One back and lug a tripod around :)

Thank you everyone.

All I can say is – f/8 and be there, with strong emphasis on the be there part.

Sorry Fred, not my intention but your response made me laugh.  :D One tends to believe what one desires. ;)
This particular picture could well be once in a lifetime.

Nope, Eduardo, Fred's right: this thread/pic should have been called Snowbird. All northern Americans/Canadians will understand as, clearly, do some Europeans who also vote with their feet or wings!

Was it Edward Weston who said that most "lucky shots" were usually made by "great photographers".....?

HCB eat your heart out!.........like 'family on the banks of the Marne'...but from the front!

Could have been. Reminiscent of Gary Player's1 remark when someone suggested he was lucky: "Yes; and the more I practice, the luckier I get".

Yeah right!  :D
What startles me the most is that if this back challenges 8X10", this picture was not possible then because by the time you completely settled up a view camera to make the shot, the cloud formation was just a brain memory to take home. Ansel Adams almost missed "Moon over Hernandez" for just a couple of seconds.
