Time and Date on AVCHD video
« on: October 31, 2010, 06:50:48 pm »

Hi everyone

Does anyone know of a way to get the time and date superimposed onto AVCHD video?

I'm aware of a few programs that, when recording video into a PC via the DV connection on a camcorder, can bring up date and time, but my new Panasonic HDC-TM700 doesn't have a DV out.  HDMI, USB, Component and AV, yes, but not DV.

This also would take a long time - 2 hours of video would also take at least two hours to get into a PC.  What I'm looking for is some way of just copying across all entire video files and then maybe running a program to bring up date and time.

I'm told Final Cut Pro (on a Mac) might be able to do it, but I don't use a Mac.

By way of explanation, all my video is for surveillance purposes, so date and time is critical.  For now I've had to use the AV leads, but that obviously results is a huge loss of resolution.  Numerous other PI related forums don't have an answer, so if anyone does, it will be of significant assistance to an awful lot of people.

Many thanks.
