Good Resources for MF Film (Mamiya RB67)?
« on: October 28, 2010, 04:04:37 pm »

I am searching for some good resources for Mamiya RB67. I read the original manual thoroughly several times.

Currently use polaroid back (and reclaim negative, but yet scanned as my v750 M Pro is arriving soon), but I could not figure out why pictures are not as sharp though it is sharp enough on the waist-level finder?

Or is there typical way to handle this camera in terms of exposure and selecting the variables like aperture, shutter speed?

Any hints will be appreciated! Thanks.

Thanks John for prompt reply. This is the first time I am using polaroid. I am used to with 35mm film and of course 35mm digital.

I use Fuji FP-100c polaroid with Mamiya polaroid back. And interestingly I recover the negative by using bleach as posted somewhere in this forum. Easy and effective. I am yet to get a V750-M Pro scanner to see exactly how the negative exactly looks like.

Simple steps of light-room technique to recover the negative are:

Stuffs required: A scissor, a glass sheet or a glass tray with flat bottom, transparent adhesive tape and bleach

1) Let the the stuff after peeling off the positive dry.
2) Cut all the sides with a scissor, particularly the handle.
3) Paste the edges of cutout negative with the negative side down (or the black side up) on a flat glass surface (I use the bottom of a glass casserole, serves me two purposes: also a negative cleaning tray) with the transparent adhesive tape of 1cm width on the sides of the cutout so that no leaks reach the negative side at the bottom.
4) Then pour in a spoonful of bleach (any bleach works) on the black side and spread it over evenly. I suggest you to use either a white napkin or a piece of white cotton cloth of the exact size of a cutout (I prefer the latter as napkin tend to expand leaving areas not treated.) to spread out the bleach evenly.
5) Wait for about 2-15 minutes depending on the strength of the bleach.
6) Then take a piece of cotton and wipe out the black stuff on top completely. If some of the black stuffs are still there, just add a few drops of bleach again and wipe out again.
7) Rinse the negative without peeling off the adhesive in the warm tap water.
8) Dry with a piece of cotton the surface and peel off the negative!
9) There you have the reclaimed negative from Fuji FP-100C or 100C45!

Hope this helps. I can post a video if somebody asks for.
