Hi...

The vertical pic looks muddy until I blew it up to 100% ...but there is detail almost everywhere, but, on my (calibrated) monitor it still looks a little dark (it looks a perfect on the laptop screen... do you have a calibrated monitor?)

The Horizontal pic looks good, but the eye is lead into the mist. Mist can be photogenic if you can see beyond it - it can help give a sense of depth to a picture.

I imagine these would both look great as large prints.

Christian, I think your tonal balance looks great the way it is. The low values are holding enough detail on my monitor. And I'd keep your crop in #2. From the standpoint of composition, I prefer #1.

Bruce, I think you've lightened the photo too much. The blacks now look gray. Perhaps your monitor isn't capable of displaying a wide enough grayscale range.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to touch the grays.  I'll take it down, if can.  Bruce

Thank you all for your comments.

The first is my favourite, too.

The high blacklevel is intentional.

The second has enough flesh for a 2m / 6,5feet (horizontal) print.

First testprint looks already good :)
