That's a tough choice. Normally I would say go with the B&W, since you do that so well. But for this one I think the color does add an important dimension.

Yup, tough one. As it stands the B&W, but if you cropped out the blue part of the sky in the colour version I'd be down to tossing a coin :)

cheers, martin

They both say something different.  Couldn't choose, really.

Both, Timo. Mike's right. Each is splended in its own way. I'd say "don't even think of cropping either of those pictures," but knowing your skill level I realize you wouldn't think of such a desecration.

There seem to be a blue cast in the foreground... I wonder if changing the WB could improve the colour pic?

B&W is better. The color color version is just too saturated, to the point of kitsch. However, were the colors more muted, pastel, they would work differently.

Timo, we're all offering our opinions here, so there is no "right" or "wrong". Go with your gut. But in my opinion, I prefer the B&W version. For me it's a more striking image. The color balance in the other one looks off to me and it seems a little washed out. But again, that's merely my opinion. It isn't right or wrong.

One more vote for the b&w. The foreground is so much more striking.

The B+W is easier for me, while the color image requires more effort to appreciate.

+1, very different.

The color immediately draws to the sky, holds the attention and then you start exploring (and appreciating) the rest of the picture.
The B&W is more subtle, and the leading lines of the shrubs lead you through the picture to the tree and finally the sky.

So it really depends what you want to say, "BAM" or "Whoosh"  ;)

My understanding of colours is that they should either contrast with each other or complement each other to make an effective image. The colour image doesn't - imo - do that therefore the B&W gets the thumbs up!

I like the bw better, but both versions are perfectly valid.

The saturated colors in the sky for me kill some of the beauty of the muted colors of the foreground.
I would crop away a lot of the sky or try some other postprocessing, maybe take down saturation and such.
As shown the b/w version works better for me.
