Hum... judging from what the oracle says and the price trends in Japan, it doesn't seem very likely. The 1ds3 is now more expensive that it was 6 months ago at 658.000 Yen

As a reference, the D3x now costs 574.000 Yen, a real bargain!

Check websites like www.canonrumors.com for the latest on this. Current tips are for a 1Ds4 in about 12 months.

Perhaps Canon wants Nikon to bring out the successor to the  D3x first as Nikon appears to have its nose in front in the pro cameras.

According to Diglloyd, the 1D Mrk IV is an improvement but the D3x files are still slightly better.

You are saying that he is lying?  Surely you're not saying the 1DIV is it, are you?  Or maybe a better DSLR has yet to come out.  From what I've seen, he'll be the first to acknowledge it when it happens.

Lloyd has affiliate links, but he does seem to provide value for money to his subscribers by engaging in serious testing.

The problem for readers of Lloyd is that he has his own shooting preoccupations - like Michael, here. So if Lloyd says a lens is high quality you can believe him. If If he talks about AF, forget it, he doesn't assess AF like an action or street shooter - you want to know about AF you need to read Rob Galbraith. To a certain extent, magazine reviews were more encyclopedic than blogs, because they worked to exact scripts.

But then, you wouldn't ask a violinist to review a piano, would you?

Excellent comments: choose reviewers whose strengths and needs fit your priorities. For example, I value Michael's reviews above all for his insight on issues like ergonomics, and the suitability of the gear to tasks like nature photography, since that is my main interest. I would go elsewhere if fast sports action were my concern, or wedding photography. And no, I do not know of any reviewer or magazine or web-site that I trust to do it all, except at a somewhat superficial level.
