2 hour exposure
« on: August 31, 2010, 08:39:45 am »

Hi All ... I have been experimenting with long exposures up to 20 minutes with digital but would like to go longer.  I also need the setup to be pretty light as I am fixing it on the inside window of the car.  I use stacked nd filters which work nicely.   Exposure is always a bit of a lottery as you are going in and out of sun etc.. but I was wondering if anyone has tried 35mm colour film for this type of thing recently.  Detail is not a huge issue and some nice grain would be fine.  I have an old nikon fe that would do the job.  I was wondering if there is any type of low speed film that people would recommend?  Does the grain get worse if you are exposing it for 2 hours or more?

Best

Exposure time shouldn't affect grain as long as the exposure is correct.  Keep in mind that with this long an exposure, you're going to have to deal with reciprocity failure and adjust your exposure accordingly.
