Harman FB Gloss no more
« on: August 05, 2010, 05:10:43 pm »

No sooner have I settled on Harman FB Gloss as my main paper than it appears to be discontinued. It was also reasonably priced, unlike Hahnnemuhle (should never buy a paper you can't spell). IGFS looks just like a typical lustre paper to me, although a good price. To be fair, I need to try Epson Traditional Photo paper, which I think is discounted from its original stratospheric price, although MR thought it a bit over bright. Have to look at Permajet Fine Art Fibre and Fotospeed EG.

Nigel,

Did you see this very recent thread about exactly your question http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index....showtopic=44569 ?

Even the answer you got till now is a matter of discussion there.

Interesting - sounds like same coating on a different paper base - I checked and more expensive than the old Harman FB, in the UK at least. Epson have withdrawn special offers on Traditional Photo paper, so don't think I'll be getting another box.

There are still very good deals  for that paper at B&H for example. Even after shipping around half the globe it is very cheap for me.  17x22" for 40$ is quite good    Cut it down to any size you need.

If Exhibition Fibre is the same as traditional photo, $40 is amazing for 25  nearly A2 sheets, but not after you've added $75-100 shipping charges to UK.

Harman themselves in the UK (via Harman Express) are selling the Baryta Gloss at perfectly reasonable prices. This is the re-branded Harman by Hahnemuhle paper, which is near as dammit the same thing as the old FB Gloss Al. There is no problem.
