And presumably for a lot of workers in Lausanne, where I got the  best processing I ever found. But didn't they go down some time ago?

Rob,
Actually, I live in Lausanne and if I remember correctly, the Kodachrome lab was closed down in 2006. All the Kodak buildings/offices are now owned by other companies.
