Fashion shooter, UK
« on: July 20, 2010, 06:29:33 am »

A friend of mine, a professional pianist, is revising her image and looking for a photographer to take some shots for her web site, maybe CD covers and brochures. Can anyone offer recommendations for a photographer in the York area (where she lives) or Manchester or London, or, failing that, some pointers as to how to find someone? Not too expensive, preferably (classical piano doesn't pay terribly well, even if, as she is, you're very good).

Thanks

Jeremy

Why don't you volunteer yourself, Jeremy?

Fashion photographers and the words good and inexpensive don't usually go together in any of the songs I know...

Indeed, why not offer your services - she's a friend, and that gives you an immediate advantage regarding what she'll probably be willing to do in pursuit of her art.

First, I know (or at least I think I know) my limits. I take snapshots (often, the kind of tourist shots which are the subject of debate elsewhere on this site recently), albeit that I have some pretensions to better myself. I know nothing of studios, lighting, wind machines and the like, I'm not at all sure that I want to know and I really don't have the time to spare from my day job to learn.

Second, she's an ex-girlfriend. That might make your second comment more accurate but I don't think my wife would approve!

Jeremy, she need to know? You could learn on the job; no, maybe you're right.

I'm quite close, only a short drive, train journey away, my ex lived in York, so done the journey many times!
I've shot a few musicians in my time too.

And they've always blamed Mark Chapman!
