Issues with Lexjet and shipping?
« on: June 29, 2010, 01:56:51 pm »

I have been dealing with Lexjet for over a year now. I use thier films, papers and PSA laminates for trade shows.  There are really the only large format company that does PSA laminates so it's not like there are any options.

I have two questions for any of you that are customers.

1)I have been having shipping issues from lexjet for a year now and recently gotten much worse where most of my lexjet paper rolls come in damaged boxes with paper itself being damaged. Our company gets hundreds of packages in through UPS from various vendors and only stuff coming from Lexjet has this consistent and serious of a problem. When I asked Lexjet they said their stuff goes out of the factory pristine and it has to be UPS and I should use fed ex.  Do any of you have shipping issues from Lexjet?

2) I had a roll of their display flex PSA laminate with very visible yellow cast to it. They sent me out a replacement roll and it was better but still has a slight beige cast to it. Any issues with yellow cast in their laminates?

I have had no problems with the actual packaging being damaged. I did have problems with their roll canvas being defective - it took 3 rolls to finally get it straightened out. They finally shipped from a different distribution center and the canvas was fine. In general they have been really good to work with. Do you have a sales rep you work through? Maybe discuss the problems with that person if you have a rep.

I do have a corporate rep I deal with. I talked to one of the Lexjet managers also but the discussion became heated when I mentioned concerned that it was consistently from Lexjet was an issue while we get UPS from everyone else with no problem. When I tried to stress that point, he became argumentative saying I wasn't listening to him. Bascially I didn't want to just dismiss the possibility of It being a Lexjet internal shipping issue (since some legit signs point that way) and he would have no part of that.  After some heated words exchange we finally resolved to checking into the problem (on UPS's end).

I know I was already in a bad mood seeing how this happened just after going through the yellow cast laminate issue, but I need to be carefull because when it comes to trade show films/laminates Lexjet is the only player. Burn any bridges here and Im out of luck.

Maybe you could try having it sent from one of their other distribution centers and see if that solves the problems.

I got in touch with Lexjet's shipping/logistics manager and they are on the case trying to track down the source of this shipping/handling damage.  She sounded very concerned and is on the case trying to track down the source of the problem.
Fortunately Lexjet have  exceptional good sales and service support and will stand behind their products. When I had issues with the yellow/beige cast they were able to overnight a replacement role that was better.

I order a lot from Lexjet and have had rolls arrive via ups damaged several times. Lexjet has always send replacements, credited and taken care of the problem. Their customer service has always been good to me. Sometimes they have been generous enough to let me keep the damaged roll and i use it for proofing. The best solution i have found is to ask them to double box it. Shipping a roll of 44 or 60" paper in the factory packaging is just not enough in the hands of an average ups driver.
