CS5 Content Aware Problem

I have just installed Adobe Photoshop CS5 into my MacPro and also my MacBook - the problem I am having is when I use the Content Aware feature on a stitched panorama around the edges to fill in the edges I am getting on the MacPro, which is running 14GB of Ram I get the following messsage popping up: Insufficient memory (Ram)

If I use the MacBook which is running only 3GB of Ram and use the same image which is around 300MB it works fine.

I have been in touch with Adobe Tech Centre and spoke to a nice gentleman in India and after 1 1/2 hours on the phone with him we both came to the conclusion that he didn't have a clue and that he would pass it on to his Supervisor who would then pass it on to the USA. I won't hold my breath on getting a reply.

Hopefully someone in Luminous-land might be able to help me?

This may be a problem with the GPU of your MacPro, especially if it is an early MacPro with an NVidia 7300 or an ATIX1900 video card as they are not fully compatible with GPU and OpenGL requirement of Photoshop CS5. (The ATIX1900 is compatible but will only run Open GL Advanced in Basic mode.)

I have an early version Mac Pro running OSX 10.6.3, 12 GB of RAM, dedicated 500 GB scratch disk, ATIX1900XT video card (512MB vram), and had a similar experience with Photomerge and Content Aware Fill. As you know Photomerge can produce a very large file and use a lot of memory when all of the auto options are engaged. What worked for me was to reduce the file size and save the combined file prior to attempting the Content Aware Fill.  Reducing the size of the resulting file or the bit depth (16 to and saving the file frees up the necessary RAM for the Content Aware Fill.
