Canvas Stretcher bars 1.25in x 3/4in
« on: May 05, 2010, 12:10:31 pm »

Framedestination.com has the perfect size stretcher bars for me. There S120 is exactly what I am looking for. However, you can not buy them in pieces (you can but you will get charged the same price) you have to buy them put together. This gets expensive.

Does anyone know of a place that sells stretcher bars with the same dimensions? The closest I have found is 3/4in x 1.5in.

I have looked at around 20 vendors online and haven't found any.

What are they charging to put them together? Just curious. Lets say for a 20 X 30" what is the cost completely assembled?
You are only one step away from being self sufficient. A good miter saw with a good fence system and you can start buying full lengths. It also takes all the figuring out of printing when you can just measure the print and build a frame to fit the canvas.

20x30 is 8.22

I would love to make my own, but I don't have the tools to make the lip (or whatever its called). I do have a miter box and saw along with a pneumatic stapler

You do not have to make the lip it is on the moulding you purchase it that way. A 20 X 30 is 100" plus a little waste factor you use a 9 foot length. At .45 a foot that comes to $4.05 for the moulding which means they are charging you around $4.17 to make the frame. Can you make it for that? Thats as cheap as you will ever find them assembled. A 20 X 30" gallery wrap should sell for a minimum of .30 a square inch. or $180.00 That $4.17 gets lost really fast as a percentage of the sale.

That is all true, I just have a cheap side to me

The great thing about framedestination is that they are in the same city as me, so I just order and pick up when it is ready

Probably good to be cheap with something else. $20.00 a frame is cheap. $8.22 is a number you should be thrilled with.
