corrupt files on CF card
« on: January 29, 2010, 08:54:23 pm »

Just spent a day shooting, tried to download files to laptop, nothing but grief. About half my files are corrupted and will not download. Never happened before. Is there a fix? Some good shots there.

Do not be sure, that the files are really corrupted.

1. Try to download them on a different way: if you used a card reader, then try directly through the camera; or the opposite way.

2. Try another cable.

Copied them to laptop using image Capture, hung up every time it came to a bad file. NG. Tried copy and paste direct from card, better but still quit many times. Said that I ejected card improperly. Next tried just dragging the files one at a time, worked best but still had a lot of files with no content or blurry/streaky bands of color.Live and learn. Peter

Use a program like photo rescue that makes an image of your cf card on the hard drive.  Although it may not get your images back, it may not be as easily confused by a corrupt card as a program that is looking for complete images.
