The first one does not say anything to me; but the second one... I think it is very powerful, very strong.
Only suggestion I can give is try to clone out the graffiti at the left.

I think the  first image is a decent portrait, although he does look a little `backed into a corner`so to speak.  I agree about the graffiti on the second one.

Hi Rob:  Imagine you're in a room, and you walk backwards into a corner of the room.  From there you're stuck.  In the first portrait that you posted, the way the image is cropped the gentleman's head is missing at the top and the right side of the frame, looking (to me), like it's been backed into a corner.
