Three Days in Tahoe

Hello - I'm a new poster to this forum but have enjoyed reading the many informative topics here for quite some time. I'm trying (as I assume we all are, always!) to get better at landscapes, so I thought I'd post a few shots I made this past weekend for critique.

The first is the sunrise on Saturday with the moon over Donner Lake in Truckee

The second one is the sunrise Sunday morning with the storm of the weekend rolling in, east shore of Lake Tahoe

I tried a black and white conversion of the rocks

Hi Mike, thanks for the welcome. I actually live in Truckee, and yes I've been to their gallery many times. Olaf and Elizabeth have some truly stunning imagery, I look up to them greatly.

They are not bad at all. However, at least on my monitor, the images appear dark, almost underexposed. Even the snow scene is somewhat darkish. I wonder if it's my monitor or browser, or are they intentionally exposed that way?

John - interesting, thanks for the feedback. Yes, I concede some of the images are darkish, however they should not be so dark as to appear underexposed (or at least I did not intend for them to be that way - especially the Donner Lake snow scene). Moody, yes; underexposed, no. I would assume you are using a calibrated monitor? I wonder if I might have mine calibrated too brightly...I have a pretty low-end monitor but I did just recently calibrate it. It's very useful to know that my finished images are coming out too dark for other people if that is the case, though. In the end, I'm mostly going to good prints but perhaps I should lighten the JPEGs a bit as a final step.
