Canon 5D must-halves...

I hate it when I have a spelling error on a word in the title of the thread - you can't edit it!

I phoned RRS a couple of days ago, they said that it should take a month to get a L plate out and that I can probably make a preorder in two to three weeks. I can't shoot tripod vertically without one, I've had one for my 10D and 1Ds (the 1Ds one is for sale, anyone want it?)

Having ACR for the 5D is more than a must, I'm hoping that with the demand for this camera that seems apparent that Adobe will pull out all stops. I suppose I can use DPP if I really have to but shooting RAW+JPG may be the answer until it's ready. I'm also worried that Rawshooter won't support it until the next ($) version. I really like the slideshow selection ability.

For me the grip is a must, I can't hold the thing otherwise with my big hands.

I'm looking to buy it mid November so hopefully by then...

My time table will probably be in that neighborhood too. No sense having the camera sitting on the shelf while the rest of the world plays catch-up.

I'm not sure what a camera profile has to do with file format recognition - please explain.

It has nothing to do with file format recognition.  It has everything to do with getting the colors right.

If you experienced any of the neon greens Capture One was putting out for a while you'll recognize the problem.

Well, I really never did much with Capture One. I did, however, profile my 20D for ACR using Jonothan's technique - worked well - minor improvement, but ACR was pretty close without the profiling.

That's a somewhat odd thing to say because the profiling required me to dial in significant color and tonal shifts.

If/when I get the 5D, I intend to go through the same profiling process with ACR.

I probably will hold off purchase of the 5D until I can acquire the rest of the stuff needed to implement the 5D into my workflow. I'd like to collect information in one place as you folks hear about the availability of "stuff" like...

1) RRS L plate to fit to 5D, with and without the grip.
2) Downloader Pro revision to read the RAW files.
3) Camera Raw revision to read the RAW files.
4) Archive Creator revision to read the RAW files.
5) Capture One revision to read the RAW files (even though I never really use it anymore).

If anyone hears anything about any of this, could the please post it here?
