Now that you've revealed the camera used it may be that people aren't as impressed with the photos.
...I doubt that I would be "making anyone else's mornings" now...

But the truth is, any camera can pull a good shot, if viewed at around 500pixels and PPed in PS.

Note to self:  must remember American "sensitivity" to religious terms.  Should know better, been to the USA enough times.

I will try harder.

How about: "don't let the bu**ers get you down"

Nope that won't do either.  This is harder than I thought.

Anyway……..

It's all too easy to criticise; it’s much harder to inspire & encourage.

I've read a few of Howard’s recent postings (sorry to single you out, you are not the only one) and I see very little to inspire.  Surely, inspiration, education & encouragement are what this particular virtual community, that Michael R has created, is all about.  We all want to take "better" pictures (crikey, I’d settle for taking just a good picture every now and then).  Being blunt and telling someone that their images are "rather ordinary" is just too easy and a cop-out, and certainly won’t help to spurn someone to get out there and improve.  We are, after all, human and need to feel wanted and appreciated.  I would hope that most us take photographs for fun & pleasure: let us not forget it.  So in that vein, I couldn’t disagree more with the Howard’s statement “that the photos are all that matter”.

Flame on

CJD, everyone is entitled to an opinion.  Frankly, I find "amazing images, truly beautiful and inspiring." no more helpful than "they look like ordinary snap shots."

It isn't because I am American that I find your crude remarks nasty.  Being crude reflects only on you, not me.

I have noticed something about this site.  When someone posts photographs and gets gushy reviews with no substance, everything is fine.  But when someone has the nerve to say they don't like the photos and even provides a reason, the fur usually flies.  A wise man once advised me, "Don't ask how you are doing.  Someone might tell you."

Hey Chris, Post a pic or two of your USM experiments. I had never gone that aggressive, but somehow for this group the more I increased the Sharpness, the better the images became.  For general purpose I use USM in 2 ways, for subtle effects, I have been using 80/7/7 -- also 30/30/0.  I know there are plenty of ways to skin a cat (or to be PC for our super sensitive friends out there, to skin a fury domesticated mammal .
