Canon 1Ds Mk111 - Question re bracketing exposures.

I want to experiment with some HDR exposures.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, when I set both mirror lockup and the two second self-timer and then set, for example a five exposure brakcet, only the mirror locks up when I press the shutter button. Nothing else.

Is it possible?

What happens when you press it again after the mirror is up?

Must have been doinng something different. The shutter does fire now, but I don't get the 3 or 5 exposure sequence.

I have to press the shutter for each exposure.

I assume that a burst sequence isn't possible with mirror lockup engaged?

Try it with Live View combined. When I do that with my 40D, timer, the three shots of the bracket will be done in a fraction of a second without mirror flopping between; this is ideal for HDR.

That's a sweet tip. My 1Ds III will do that perfectly, whether or not mirror lockup is engaged. If I have mirror lockup engaged and I trip the shutter w/o using live view, then it requires that I trip the shutter each time for each exposure. With using live view it will rack off the full 7 bracketed exposured w/o putting the mirror back down.
