I saw the Dec. 2003 National Geographic on the newsstand today, so I do as I always do and checked the website at
www.nationalgeographic.com for notes on the photos. I found that ALL the photos in the "Future of Flying" article by Joe McNally excerpted on the site were taken either by Nikon D1X or D100. Also, the last two shown from "Zip 67210" were shot with a Canon 1Ds. Times are changing!
