Hi,
The next installment is here: http://www.imx.nl/photo/leica/camera/page157/page157.html
This compares the M9 to the M8 and the Nikon D3X.
It clearly shows that the M9 has issues with Moiré while Nikon D3X achieves higher sharpness without significant Moiré. The article is worth reading.
Something to point out is that:
These tests are very exact in nature
The Leica is perhaps not intended to be used in the exacting ways described in the tests.
Best regards
Erik
This is an interesting comparison, Erik. However, I find it a bit disturbing that the D3X and M9 shots seem to have such a different White Balance. Erwin Puts describes the D3X image as appearing overexposed. It may be, but it's the different WB that's the major problem. When comparing images, one should always try to get the temperature and tint as close as possible, otherwise people might get the impression that a particular white balance that is personally preferred is an inherent characteristic of the camera.
The M9 picture of the Esser test chart for skin tones looks more accurate or natural to me because the lady is Asian.
