Ilford Gold Fibre silk profile for Epson 7900/9900?
« on: August 05, 2009, 09:17:18 am »

Dear all,

I am currently trying out various papers on the 9900, and today is Ilford Gold Fibre silk's turn.

I was expecting to find suitable profiles on the Ilford site, but it seems that the 7900/9900 profiles are not there yet.

I'll be making my own later, but was wondering whether somebody here would have good profiles for testing purpose?

Thank you in advance,

Cheers,
Bernard

They do offer profiles for 7900/9900 but the download page seems to be currently down.

Here's the link for you to check later : http://www.ilford.com/profiles/index_en.asp?type=profile

EDIT : The webpage is back. You need to create an account in order to be able to download the profiles.

Thanks, my bad, that is the site I checked, but I didn't see them at that time.

Found them now.

Cheers,
Bernard

This is a baryta-based paper, which I think have the reputation of being a good choice for B&W prints, but I personally use it for color prints and the colors are outstanding.

More info in Michael's article on baryta papers.

Are the standard Ilford profiles suitable for B&W prints?

Thanks.

I am going to compare them, using the ABW module,  with my custom generated profiles (Ergosoft GPS with custom GCR settings). There has been talk of a "bug" in the OSX driver that requires use of Adobe 1998, although I have  not seen that using my usual output space(ProPhoto). Must be lucky. SO far very happy indeed with the Epson ABW & IGGFS!
