Nikon D300 Live View question
« on: May 07, 2009, 10:44:13 pm »

I am primarily a Canon shooter.  My bodies are the 5D mark II and the 50D.  On both those bodies I can manually focus in live view with the aperture stopped down to working aperture.  Thus allowing me to see the perfect focus point when shooting macro, etc.

Now, the problem is I just borrowed a Nikon D300 with a 200mm micro nikkor.  I find that I can not stop down to working aperture when in live view so I may see the DOF on the LCD.  I have gone through the instruction manual several times.  I have searched reviews and forums on line.   I am hoping there is a Nikon D300 user on LL that can help me determine if the above technique is possible with the nikon D300?    I am finding it incredulous that the live view function on the nikon D300 might not allow this.  I am hoping that it is possible and I have just not managed to figure it out.

I hope someone on LL can shed some light on this issue.
