Z3200 44" weight w/o stand?
« on: May 04, 2009, 11:38:10 am »

I'm considering a Z3200 44" model but after making sure it works I need to disassemble it and move it up two flights of narrow stairs and reassemble it there. Any idea of what the weight of the printer without the stand or paper catch would weigh?

HP lists the 'product weight' as 189 lbs; this will be just the printer, with the wooden palette and packaging removed. The stand is actually a separate item that you put together after you have everything delivered, and it doesn't weigh much at all, surely no more than 40 lbs. or so.

If you're moving this beast up two flights of stairs, you'll want three (reasonably large) people as a minimum. Your biggest problem may actually be the printer's length; it's about 70" long without any packing material, so it's a challenge getting it around corners. You may want to use a sturdy hand-truck and tip it up on end to get it up the stairs if any corners are involved.

The stand will likely be less than you think. Above 40 lb is on the generous side. The only heavy parts on the stand are the formed legs which are rolled metal , very sturdy , but not heavy.
The 44" is heavy and hard to tote. You can however use either the 44 or 24 " without a stand if you have to.

Better have a few strong buddies if you want to make a 44" go up stairs.

The Z3200 - 44" is 189# with stand, so figure the printer is ~150#.
