Just an opinoin here,

CDW, (I realize that they are a big company), but not a camera company.  Also they do this all the time.  They prefer to sell in large lots  i.e. PC shipments, but the 1ds is not being sold this way.

The 1ds has been handled very differently than the 10d, or D60 etc.  Canon controls the orders very closely.  If you want a camera sooner, I strongly recommend calling places like

Samy's in LA,  they have had stock since late Jan.
Newtonville Camera in MA.  Ask for Mike
National Graphics Supply

I don't have the emails or phone numbers with me, but all will show up on a web search.

If you are getting a discount from CDW, then I can understand the wait. but all of these locations are selling the 1ds for 7400.00 which is about as good as get currently.

My 1Ds arrived (finally!) last Friday. I spent the weekend out shooting; my initial impressions are that it is indeed an excellent camera.

About a month ago I ordered a 1Ds from CDW.com, where the company I work for has a Platinum account. I still have not received my camera, and the word is that CDW still has not received their shipment from Canon. The company I work for does about $30,000/year business with CDW, and our orders are always shipped promptly; this has never happened before. All of the 1Ds accessories I ordered (batteries, 35-350mm L lens, 420EX speedlight, microdrives, etc) arrived 3 weeks ago, and everything but the camera body has been invoiced. I checked several other web sites that carry the 1Ds, and all of them listed it as either "out of stock" or "call for availability". Am I the only one experiencing this, or is there a 1Ds shortage going on?

Click here to be placed on our waiting list...

Ughh...not exactly "we have them in stock for immediate shipment", I'm now at the top of the waiting list at CDW, with delivery projected March 8.

I talked to Ron Rice and he confirmed that he had one in his inventory at a price I cannot reveal.  Let's just say that is lower than the usual suspects by a not insigficant amount.

But that was last week.  It has probably been sold by now.
You have to CALL as Ron says to confirm availability because stocks are low and it is selling every single one it can get its hands on.

Dury's is a very reliable outfit.  It won't tell you it has it when it does not.  Just trying to help as you seem in dire need but if you insist on making things difficult for yourself, that is your choice.

I'm getting mine for significantly less than $7400. I guess I will put up with the extra wait.
