Using Printshield on Paper prints
« on: March 06, 2009, 02:10:38 pm »

I'd like to know if anyone thinks it's necessary to use a protective spray like Printshield on paper prints if they are going to be stored in a protective sleeve/archival box and later framed under glass anyway. (and I live in the desert = no humidity to speak of).
These prints would not be out at shows or subjected to lots of handling by people, but they'd be handled by the customer and whoever ended up framing them.

Also, has anyone had problems with Printshield altering the colors on a paper print? I have lots of matte black areas on my prints and I'd heard somewhere that it can cause cloudiness.

Thanks!

No problem at all using PrintShield---no cloudiness, and doesn't alter the surface of fine art papers.   Good stuff.

Print shield doesn't offer much in protection from what I can tell, just extending the longevity of the print. My prints sprayed with Print Shield are still very fragile and can be damaged easily if a fingernail or a corner of paper drags through dark ink. Breathing Color's Glamour II Veneer is more of a protectant in that it creates a thick layer on the print, but Print Shield is just invisible aerosol.

How are you applying the Glamour II to a paper print?  Roll or spray?  I tried spraying, but the gun I used didn't produce a fine enough spray.

Thanks
