I'm looking for a light meter with spot metering for landscaping, I just need spot metering nothing about flash or any fancy functions, is there something cheap that is good quality and would be a good value instrument?
"Cheap" and "Quality" are rarely common attributes in an accurate meter.
The Minolta meters were excellent because they read a scene's luminance only, and were unaffected by the color of the light. Their flash meters were great for metering light with colored gels. However, Minolta's photographic division is history and their meters are no longer developed for the photographers (they now target the scientific market). If you can get
one of their spot meters for a good price, you'll have yourself a great meter.
The other brands that most photographers use are Gossen and Sekonic, and I think only
Gossen make a dedicated spot meter (but I could be wrong). I don't know about Sekonic or Gossen durability/accuracy/build quality, only Minolta, which I've used for over 25 years.
